Dalton: Rocky's in the house. What's going
on?
Rocky: What's going on?
JM: On his sixth cup of coffee.
DR: He's had six cups of joe,
he's working on about 45 minutes of sleep.
JM: We've been having a very good
time with him in the green room.
DR: We were talking last week how
we couldn't wait til you were in. Little did we know it
would be so soon. I guess, sort of take me through.
It is sort of the question people have. We see you on
TV. You're this crazy, larger than life character.
Emotions can get amplified when you're losing, not eating, not
sleeping. I guess the question is, how much of that is the
real Rocky that you're going to see outside the game and how
much of it was you going bonkers out of your mind or was it a
combination of the two?
Rocky: Definitely a
combination. I just, I'm outspoken as it is but then like
you said, you add in all the starvation and the dehydration and
not hanging around with people that you like too much and then
you just blow up more than you normally would.
JM: Why do you think you guys
kept losing? Do you think that there was a communication
thing? You were so close sometimes.
Rocky: We just never found the
niche. We'd be so close, leading, and then something came
up. You know what I mean. It's crazy.
JM: It's really
frustrating. I'm praying for like a merge or
something. It's really going to be so boring watching them
win.
DR: We've spoken about the haves/havesnots
thing that we're not crazy about. I guess where you really
saw it come into play was that memory challenge. It comes
up to you and not eating, not sleeping, you're just like...and
we saw it with Yau-Man, too.
Rocky: And he's a genius.
In my own defense, he's a genius and he couldn't do it.
The sun and nothing, your brain is blank all day.
DR: So you guys were losing every
week. You were going to TC every week except for the one
where they decided to go themselves. You were sort of in
control and knew what was going on. Last night you felt
like you weren't in control. Did you know you were
going? Did you think it was about 50/50?
Rocky: I kinda smelt it coming up
but I think I just lied to myself. I basically just
convinced myself that it's not going to be me. No one's
lying to me, basically just to get through the day. That's
why I looked so shocked when I got voted off. I'm a good
liar, especially to myself. So that's what happened.
DR: We thought one of the
problems last night was at the reward challenge.
JM: I thought maybe it was a
little bit of editing.
DR: Let's take a look at the clip
and then we'll have Rocky talk about what was going on with
downing the hot dogs.
<video clip of Rocky taunting Ravu members
after they overindulged in food>
DR: We hear them...
JM: Edgardo was laughing.
DR: Is that the reaction you were
getting when you said it?
Rocky: Yeah, of course.
Everyone was like, "Oh, that's wicked funny. Ha ha
ha." Nobody steps up and says, "Cut it
out." I even told 'em, I said, "You know
what? I'm a little crazy, I got food in my system for the
first time in three weeks. I'm fired up. If it's too
much let me know."
JM: And nobody said anything?
Rocky: No.
JM: Dreamz is laughing.
Caller: Hey Rocky, I just
wanted to thank you for providing a very interesting
season. I just got into Survivor last season and it was
very predictable. I do want to know what mistake you think
you made?
Rocky: Thank you very much.
I'm glad I could make the show more entertaining for you.
The mistake I made was, I don't know. I just, I didn't see
it coming, the whole getting kicked off the show thing.
Maybe if I edited (?) it the way I voted people off, because
that's basically what happened, maybe I could have set it up for
the future. I don't know what I would do if I could change
it or anything like that.
DR: If you had been doing everything
right don't you think they were going to get rid of you anyway
just because they wanted to keep their alliance from Moto
together?
Rocky: I was done either
way. They got Mookie over because they felt they could
control him a little bit more. At the same time, now
Mookie's there all by himself. So it's a numbers
game.
JM: People have mixed feelings
about Mookie.
Rocky: He's definitely
shady. He's playing to win.
JM: Like you say, the numbers
were stacked against you either way.
DR: Mookie said he wasn't going
to write your name down. Did he give you any clue that you
were going?
Rocky: No, he lied to my
face. We were sitting over there and I go, "Hey
buddy, I'm a little bit nervous. I know who's going now
but I'm a little nervous about what's going to happen
after." He goes, "I don't know, we'll figure it
out. We'll work on it."
JM: Do you think maybe he didn't
think you were going to make it on the jury so he can lie to
you? It's a little early. We've seen an early jury
before but this one is early. They think they can be rude
because it doesn't matter.
Rocky: I do. I do
matter.
JM: I think that's not the first
person he's done that to.
Rocky: Yeah, he's done it.
We've done it. We manipulate people. Whatever, it
was bound to happen. I was bound to get kicked off sooner
or later.
Caller: Rocky, I see that you're
dressing better now. Early on you made some alliances but
they seemed to be throwaway and you appeared to be more of a
here and now individual without too much thought towards down
the road. What is your response to that?
Rocky: I made alliances in the
beginning. When Jessica got voted out and Erica basically
didn't do anything to save her or even attempt to do it, I kinda
snapped into the game and sink or swim. I fought for
myself. When Erica's name got thrown up, she was one of
the strongest players on the team. I had all faith in me,
Jess and Erica going far but once she flipped and they didn't
try to save her, I gave up.
JM: You didn't actually write
their names down?
Rocky: I wrote Erica's name
down. Not Jessica.
DR: It's that hard thing where
you have to make an alliance immediately but you know nothing
about anyone.
JM: The first couple of days are
tough. It's kind of like hit or miss. You could get
a good alliance that could take you all the way to the end even
if you do nothing or do a lot. If you get a bad one you're
in trouble even if you do a lot. There's a lot of luck
involved in this game.
DR: Look how differently
everything could have been if you had just been on that haves
tribe.
Rocky: If if I flipped that 9
over like I was supposed to. [episode 5 immunity challenge]
Caller: Rocky, in retrospect, do
you wish you had made amends with Anthony and tried to get him
in an alliance with you, Mookie and Dreamz?
Rocky: Retrospect is a very big
word, thank you very much. It would have made sense to get
together with Anthony just for the whole numbers thing but I
don't think it would have worked out in the long run. I
don't think it would have changed how I got voted out.
JM: Talk a little about
Anthony. We didn't get into that yet. You picked on
him a little bit it looked like.
Rocky: Looks like it, yeah.
Looks like it. Here's the thing. I tried with the
kid. I tried. I held back. I coulda blew up
more than you saw me blow up. It's tough.
JM: What was it about him that
just rubbed you the wrong way?
DR: It definitely went past
constructive criticism.
Rocky: It was the buildup and
then at TC I got to take the gloves off and go crazy.
JM: Did you know he was going
home and that's why you thought you could...
Rocky: Yeah, that's why I could do
it. I gave him everything I had
JM: Did his personality just
clash with yours?
Rocky: Yeah, we just, we don't
have anything in common. I'm sure he's a good kid.
But under those conditions, under those dire straits, and then I
have to deal with this person who, like I'm not saying that I
did anything great at the challenges. Clearly we didn't
win. For some reason every time we were this close,
maybe four times, like that whole balance beam thing in the
water the kid fell off like six times.
JM: What we don't understand is
if you lose over and over and you have one person that you feel
you can blame, that will drive you crazy and you'll eventually
snap on them.
DR: What was a surprise to a lot
of us was Jeff Probst's role in that.
JM: He kind of dug in a little
bit on Anthony, too.
DR: I thought he was going to
sort of take you to task and call you out, maybe. What we
saw on TV didn't work that way. Tells us about Jeff
in the mix.
Rocky: To be honest with you, I
know it sounded like I just digged into him but at the same time
me and Anthony were about 10 years ago very similar
people. I got picked on in high school, got beat up and
all that stuff, very similar to his story. We took two
totally different paths to becoming who we are. So I was
just trying to explain that to him and maybe he's happy with his
life and the way it is. If it was me, maybe I'd want to
just change. Maybe he's happy with where he is and how
he's living.
DR: I think these bitches heed to
hug it out.
JM: I'm hoping for some kind of
fight.
Rocky: You don't want a hug you
want a brawl.
JM: Oiled down and half naked,
baby.
Rocky's Time Capsule: Hey James,
this is your boy, James. It's going to be a long 39 days,
brother. Sit tight, do your thing, try to keep your mouth
shut from time to time because we all know you've got a huge
mouth. Relax, take it easy, just do your thing. I'm
sure you'll do a great job. Make us proud, huh. Talk
to you soon, buddy.
JM: You looked bigger there,
too. But I know a lot of people before they go on the show
they gain weight, they beef up. It's good to see the
before and after.
DR: Not heeding his own advice.
JM: You forget the cameras are
there and you let your guard down a little bit.
Rocky: You get comfortable.
It just flows out of your mouth.
DR: Tell us about some of the
situations where you maybe did bite your tongue.
Rocky: The whole lip gloss thing
with Rita, love her death, think she's a great kid, I wanted to
wake up and just start screaming. Tell them to go down to
the rock and talk about fashion and mascara, whatever you call
it, nail polish. Tell them just to go and do it somewhere
else. If I did that then I might lose their vote or they
might not vote the way I asked them to.
DR: Rocky, thank your lucky stars
that Jenna Morasca was not on your tribe.
JM: I didn't talk about lip gloss
but I did talk about food a lot.
Caller: Rocky, have you watched
any of the previous seasons? Seems like in the previous
seasons there's a precedent that people with such an aggressive
attitude are fairly first to go. It seemed like your
attempts to motivate people were counterproductive and your
downfall. Did you ever think about toning it down a couple
of notches?
Rocky: That's a great
question. To be honest with you, that is toned down.
That's toned down.
JM: And you didn't watch a whole
lot before you went on.
Rocky: I watched some episodes.
I watched a couple seasons, 13 and 12. I think maybe even
season 4.
JM: Wow.
Rocky: Yeah it was a little mix,
a little buffet of Survivor. But that was toned down,
man.
DR: For historical accuracy here
let's note that Boston Rob basically made it to the
finals.
JM: He won Survivor: All Stars
even though he didn't have the votes.
DR: He basically won it.
JM: And Shane Powers made it
far. I think Tom and Terry were aggressive outward
strong players. You just never know. It all depends
on who you end up with.
DR: Terry and Tom are much more
diplomatic.
JM: It just depends on who you're
with, who can handle it.
DR: We're going to take a quick
break.
