DR:  Nate, welcome to the show my man.

Nate:  How are we doing?

JM:  Good to have you.  Good to see you, well not yet.  We have other people we would much rather have seen.  I thought that they would vote off maybe Adam because at least you had some ties to Ozzy.

DR:  It was a great strategy episode.  A lot of things going on.  I guess the first question is:  why were you guys so sure that Yul had not found that hidden immunity idol?

Nate:  We did.  You don't see but I completely thought that he had the idol.  I said to Adam and Candice that we should just go for someone else like Becky or have you.  You'll see in the show, Adam said to Jonathan, "Well maybe he has it."  And Adam said, "No."   Adam was kind of playing the game...

JM:  Like he had it.

Nate:  ...like he had it.  So that Jonathan would think that so he would stay with us.  Obviously when Yul showed him that thing that plan backfired but ya know it was also we knew Jonathan wanted to stay wherever the idol was he was kind of playing him along like, "Oh, yeah, yeah. I have it."  But we entertained the thought of Yul having it and maybe going somewhere else.  After looking at it all, I don't know if I would have played it any different.   I think Yul was going to save anyone just so that they were even at numbers.

JM:  It actually worked out the best for Yul because Ozzy ended up winning the challenge so your second choice is then gone and then Yul wouldn't have to give up the idol to prove that he had it to Ozzy.  There's a little bit of luck involved with Yul.  Yul got a great idea and he executed it perfectly but there was a little bit of luck that happened to fall...

DR:  Give it up for the man, Morasca.

JM:  It worked out for him.  If someone else had won the idol or something it wouldn't have been so easy to play out.

DR:  That's true.  If Ozzy is available you guys have an easy switch.  You can get rid of Ozzy.

JM:  Yeah, switch it because you know he doesn't have the idol.

DR:  Had Ozzy and Yul, neither of them won hidden immunity, would Yul have still been your first choice or would it have been Ozzy?  I know you wanted to keep Ozzy around.  What would Adam and some of those other people have thought?

Nate:  You know, we were very, very on top of getting Yul out.  As anyone can see, he's brilliant and he plays the game well.  He's a good competitor.  He knows what's going on out there and he knows how to think ahead.   The best part of playing Survivor is you gotta think long-term.  Yul is always thinking long-term.  He's always thinking.  That clock ticking scares me.  He's a brilliant thinker.  So we definitely wanted to take him out but once Ozzy had immunity it was kind of like, okay...but we also thought, maybe he has the idol, maybe we shouldn't.  But Jonathan scared us because he was so like, "No, no, no.  No Yul."  And we saw them talking a lot.  And Candice and Adam were like, "Something is wrong with those two. So let's get rid of Yul ."  Jonathan was talking to him a lot and when he talked he was like, "I want to save him."   That's the biggest enemy we have.  It kind of made us wonder.

DR:  What do you think the chances are that Jonathan...as you're walking to TC, you're thinking, "Has Jonathan flipped?"  What were the percentages that you thought Jonathan flipped?  About 30% chance, 50, more?

Nate:  High.  I'd say...high. 70.  Candice made a very valid point to me.  She said, "Have they talked to you about coming over?"  She knew I was trying to talk to Ozzy and feel the wires over there.  So I said, "No."  Then we talked to Adam and we talked to Parvati.  So we knew the four of us they hadn't talked to and they were calm.  You could read amongst their faces going into Tribal, they were calm.  I thought, "Ut, oh."   The first time I saw my name come up I thought, "Well, guess I'm eating good tonight."  But we kind of had that eerie feeling.  Going to Tribal we were all looking at one another like something's not right.

DR:  Let's the show the clip of what we're talking about, the strategy talk.

<video clip of Jonathan and Yul strategizing>

DR:  A quote that you said a few weeks ago when this mutiny first happened when you said, "We see this guy Jonathan betraying his own tribe and do you think we're going to let you sit around and do this to us?  Do you think we're stupid?"  And then, sure enough, you guys keep him around and look what happens.

Nate:  I have to say...

JM:  Karma's a bizzle.

Nate:  Karma is a bizzle.  Granted, I voted against him last week.  I knew we had to get rid of him because I knew he was getting comfortable.  But I think everyone got comfortable with the amount of food he was bringing in.  He was bringing more food than Jenny, so.

JM:  And you thought he would have no options.

Nate:  You would honestly think he would have no options.  He was like our idol.  He was like our get out of jail free card.

Caller:  I want to know if Nate was mad at Ozzy for voting him off because it seemed like him and Ozzy were getting along.

Nate:  I was very mad at Ozzy.  I had some words, too, for Ozzy.  I definitely had some words for Ozzy.  Just to let me know or at least, I was kind of upset at the fact that he didn't try to talk to them and say, "Hey, you know what?  I think Nate's on the out, we can pull him in."   I wasn't going to hurt Ozzy at all.  I respect him as a player.  I was trying to work with him.  So when he basically didn't even tell me and I figured if anything's going to happen he would at least let me know.  When he didn't I was upset.  So I definitely had some words for him as well, too.  I left with some heat.

JM:  It looks like Ozzy is at least a little bit conflicted as opposed to Jonathan who obviously is the one who I think is solely responsible for your...he's the one who put your name out there.  They said, "we'll vote out whoever you want."  Which I thought was kind of crazy, too.  They seemed like they were trying to get Jonathan in by letting him choose.  They have the idol.  They really have the upper hand, also.   I didn't think that he should be making the sole decision on who they vote out.  His best interests are not their best interests.

DR:  From their perspective they probably want Nate or Adam to go.  They're probably worried about the individual challenges.

JM:  Nate is a little bit friendly with Ozzy.  The possibility of you flipping is possible.  With Adam I don't think there is a prayer.

DR:  Right.  Yul's nervous about him and Ozzy.

JM:  That's a different show.  What Yul's problems are.

Caller:  What kind of interaction do you have with the crew out there especially when there are scenes showing how cold it is out there?  Like when Candice and Adam were out with the boat.  It appeared the cameraman was kind of close.

DR:  The cameramen are out there, they are close.  The only time they really talk to them is when they do an interview.  You sit down for an interview and answer questions that they specifically ask you. Other than that, you just gotta ignore them and go about your business.

Nate:  Basically, yes.  If you remember on the recap, me and my man Sekou had a time with the canoe and using an outrigger.  They were close.

JM:  They could care less.

Nate:  Yeah they could care less.  You forget they're there after awhile so you can actually be yourself and play the game.  You zone them out.

Caller:  Nate I hate to see you leave the game so soon.  I think you're an awesome competitor.  How soon did you know that you would be voted off regardless of whether Jonathan voted for you because Yul had the Immunity Idol and did that change your view of Jonathan flipping back?  You had some pretty harsh words to say for him.

Nate:  Yeah, I had some harsh words. I think he's a good person outside the game.  He's a good father, he's a good guy but inside the game he's definitely...there was bad blood between us.  He had it out for me.  I think he knew from the previous week when we had to vote Jenny out and I put the vote against him, I think he had something out for me knowing I wanted him out at that point.  I just didn't trust him.

JM:  Was it an alpha male thing, too?  Like maybe he thought that you had more power on the tribe?

DR:  He voted team whitey.  It was all about putting team whitey back together.

JM:  I figured because Jonathan was a little bitter that you guys didn't warm up to him as much as Candice.

Nate:  In this last episode prior to the challenge or we thought we had a challenge when we merged, he was telling us to get water and all these things.  It's like, we were fine living here before you got here.  He calls us lazy and psychos and stuff.  We're kids who just want to sleep in.  We were fine before he got there.  I was getting wood, water, eating.  We were doing fine.

DR:  Let's not forget that this season started out with you guys sending his a** to Exile Island.  Day two.

Nate:  True.

JM:  He deserved that.

DR:  Stealing chickens, man.

Nate:  It was the chicken thing but also they were the next to last place team.  They had two men and three women.  The other two tribes had three guys and two women.  So if I took a guy I didn't think it was going to affect them.  If I get rid of Jonathan they're going to be struggling just like us.

JM:  That's very smart and if you look back on Jonathan's history with stealing the chickens, and mutiny and then turning on you guys, he has a really bad track record being honest to anyone.  You say Yul is a ticking time bomb, I think he's a ticking time bomb.  You can never truly rely on him.  This guy will go anywhere.

Nate:  Exactly.

DR:  Well, you say to him, "I want to go to the final two with you."  And he goes to the other three and says, "This will be the final four."  Which way is Yul going to go if push comes to shove?

JM:  It depends on if he's playing smart or he's playing nice.  If he's playing nice he'll take his alliance.  If he wants to win he should take Jonathan.

Caller:  Nate, I noticed that Rarotonga had Manihiki's vote.  How'd they get Manihiki's vote?

Nate:  When we merged we get two votes because there's so many of us.  We have to take a boat to Tribal Council, we can't fit.  Nine of us when we first merged over, because we had a majority of Hiki, Rebecca, Stephannie and myself.  I think we won that and they got the Puka Puka and the other Aitu vote.  I think we split the four votes, 2 and 2.

JM:  I don't remember any of the tribes names from the beginning.

DR:  Manihiki, Puka Puka, Rarotonga and Aitutaki. We gotta take a quick break.
